One of the most important part of holiday or trip is the shopping. Shopping in Orissa is an absolute delight.
Orissa’s Pipili village is a small village between Puri and Bhubaneswar. This village is famous for its handicrafts of bright and vibrant color applique and patch works. Here tourists buy real nice wall hangings, lamp shades, bags, etc. There are shops on sides of the road where a traveler can shop the local handicrafts.
Raghurajpur’s Pattachitra paintings with religious and tribal drawings on cloth are the speciality of the region. It is famous for its palm leaf engravings, pottery, wood carvings and toys.
Orissa and Bihar states are known worldwide for its Madhubani paintings and applique art craft.

Tarakashi, is a distinctive silver filigree art form of Orissa around Cuttack, and their products are sold in Cuttack shops at Nayasarak and Balu Bazaar. Artists use an alloy of 90% or more pure silver. These silver items are mostly sold here by weight.

Cotton and silk sarees– Buy cotton and silk sarees in Puri around the Temple Road. There are various Government Emporiums. At these government emporiums and the other local shops many varieties of cotton sarees, cloth materials, dupattas are available.

Jagannath figures – All the way down Grand Road outside the Jagannath Temple, lots of colourful figures on bargain rates are available. These figures are of Jagannath (black face with large white eyes), together with his brother Balbhadra (white face and arms) and sister Subhadra (no arms). They all have huge, all-seeing eyes and outstreched arms to protect and bless all mankind.
Shopping for handlooms, there are abundant number of options in the main areas like Puri and Bhubaneswar. At every important shopping district, one can find Government run handloom shops where cloth items like shawls, dyed and woven fabric and Ikkat saris can be purchased.

Here The government emporiums and shops are the best in terms of quality assurance. Some well known shops like ‘Kalamandir‘ and ‘Boyanika‘ in the areas of Bhubaneswar are little expensive but they have wide range of variety with good quality.

Stone and metal crafted items can be found in abundance in Puri. Balu Bazaar and Naya Sarak in the town of Cuttak are the best places for buying hand crafted jewellery.

City Center Mall – City Centre mall is the first and largest mall in the Western Odisha. Many brand stores for shopping, eyelex for movies, play zone and 7D Cinema for kids entertainment and Dominos and good food court for food lovers are available here.

Pipili– This is a small nice applique place to buy lovely hand made products. Beautiful light shades, garden umbrellas , trinklets made from mirrors, metallic toys, appliqué craft and other handicrafts, at reasonable prices with great discounts are available here.

Raghurajpur Artist Village – This is a small village where villagers make beautiful paintings by using water colours and embedded painting on palm leaves. People here do good bargaining and buy these beautiful paintings.

Modi collection – A good shop for ladies, men’s and kids wear. Sarees and Readymade clothes for whole family can be purchased from here, at cheap prices. Huge collection of bridal saree, suits, sherwani & Blazers is available too.

Epari Govindam – A nice shop for buying sarees and suits.
